A Cross-sectoral Strategic Futures Network
What is it?
The Foresight Action Network (FAN Club 2.0 for short) is a group of people from all sectors – public, private, academic, not for profit – with an interest in strategic futures. They meet over lunch for informal workshop and discussion events every 2-3 months in London. The group emerged from a network originally funded by the Government Office for Science, now it is privately run with sponsorship from Shaping Tomorrow ; those in the public sector attend free, others pay a fee of £42 (academic/NFP) or £78 (private sector). After our first successful event of the year in February to explore European Health Futures, further events planned for the first half of 2013 are as follows:
- 30 April 2013 Future Environmental Applications and Implications of Synthetic Biology led by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and hosted by the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) at Westminster.
- 9 July 2013 The Future Evolution of Humanitarian Action hosted by the Humanitarian Futures Programme at King’s College London.
